Frequently Asked Questions
How many faces can you paint in an hour?
I can comfortably paint 10-12 faces per hour, but that can vary on the complexity of the design and the “wiggliness” of the child.
What types of paints do you use?
I only use trusted, non-toxic, FDA-compliant, water-based paints. I’m a choosy mom so I’m the go-to for choosy moms that want safe products.
What do you provide for the event?
All I need is a nice, weather-protected spot, and I bring the rest! I have a table, paints, chairs, and of course my awesome paint kit.
How many hours can I purchase?
My minimum party purchase is 2 hours and I can work events up to 4 hours.
How does weather impact outdoor events?
If your event is outside, please ensure you have a rain/inclement weather plan in advance. We require a work space sheltered from all weather conditions. If you are in need of a tent to help protect me from direct sun, I can provide one for an additional fee. Please note: If there is thunder or lightening and no indoor backup plan, I will suspend all face painting activities until it is safe to resume (should time allow within your contracted terms).
I’ve never had my face painted before. Can I check for allergies/reactions?
Although extremely rare, skin sensitivities can occur with face painting. You may “jump the line” and request a small skin swatch in advance of being painted.
Any tips for making the most of face painting at my event?
The best face painting requires as few wiggles and interruptions as possible. Please kindly refrain from engaging with your child while they are seated for face painting, especially if they are being quiet and still. Surprisingly, children tend to open their eyes and look at the adult speaking with them, which often disrupts the face painting process. As a former teacher, I love seeing children encouraged and complimented for good behavior, but please save that until the end and the big reveal!
What’s a “magic mirror moment”?
One of the joys of face painting is revealing the final design to a child when I have them gaze into my magic mirror to admire their transformation. I’m a photo-friendly artist, but kindly ask that parents refrain from showing children their photos until after the magic mirror moment.
